Careers at Riesant
A private bank where craft, discretion and a long view of a career matter more than noise. We hire deliberately, and we invest in the people we hire.

Riesant Bank has looked after the wealth of private clients and their families since 1971. The work is patient and precise. It rewards people who take pride in doing things properly, who keep their counsel, and who understand that a banking relationship is measured in decades rather than quarters. If that describes the way you like to work, you may find a home here.
We are a Maltese institution with an international clientele across 23 EU and EEA countries, regulated by the MFSA and licensed under the Banking Act and the Investment Services Act. We are large enough to offer genuine breadth, from relationship management and portfolio construction to credit, planning and compliance, and small enough that good work is noticed. We employ around 310 people, including 48 advisers, and we expect each of them to be both a specialist and a custodian of the firm's standards.
Working at Riesant
Private banking at its best is a quiet profession. Clients trust us with matters they would discuss with very few others, and that trust is the asset we protect most carefully. Discretion is not a slogan here but a daily discipline, woven into how we communicate, how we handle information, and how we conduct ourselves in a small market where reputation travels quickly.
We value craft. Whether you are drafting a wealth plan, sizing a lending facility, or rebalancing a discretionary mandate, the expectation is the same: understand the client fully, do the analysis honestly, and explain your reasoning in plain terms. We give colleagues the time and the autonomy to do considered work, and we hold each other to a high standard of judgement. Hierarchy is light, but accountability is clear.
Roles span the breadth of the bank. Relationship Managers act as the principal point of contact and the steward of each client relationship. Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers shape and run portfolios, the former advising on individual decisions and the latter managing on a discretionary basis. Wealth Planners address succession, tax-aware structuring and the longer arc of a family's affairs. Credit Analysts assess and structure lending against complex balance sheets. Our Compliance and MLRO teams safeguard the bank's licence and integrity under MiFID II, GDPR and EU anti-money-laundering law. Client Service colleagues keep everything running with accuracy and care.
How we hire
We hire slowly and with intent, because a poor fit serves neither the candidate nor the client. Our process is multi-stage and deliberately thorough. It usually begins with a conversation about your experience and what you are looking for, followed by interviews with the team you would join and with colleagues from the wider bank. For most roles you will complete a practical exercise relevant to the work, such as a case study, a portfolio review or a written analysis, so that both sides can judge the fit on substance rather than impression.
Senior and client-facing appointments include a discussion with leadership and, given the regulated nature of much of our work, the relevant fitness-and-properness and background checks. We will be candid with you about timing and expectations throughout, and we welcome the same candour in return. If we are not the right place for you, we would rather establish that early and part on good terms.
Where we work
Our registered office and corporate functions sit at 48 Merchants Street in Valletta, while much of our client work is conducted from our client centre in Sliema. Both are central to how we operate, and many colleagues spend time across the two depending on their role and their clients.
We also support remote working within the EU for roles where it suits the work, with arrangements agreed individually. Client-facing and regulated positions carry expectations around presence and confidentiality that we will set out clearly during the process. Wherever you are based, you remain part of one bank, with the same standards and the same access to colleagues.
Graduate and internship programme
We run a structured graduate programme for people at the start of their careers in banking, investment and compliance. Graduates rotate through several parts of the bank over their first eighteen months, gaining a grounded understanding of how private banking actually works before specialising. Each graduate is paired with a mentor and supported towards the professional qualifications relevant to their path.
Our internships offer a shorter, supervised introduction to the firm, typically over a summer, with real responsibilities rather than busywork. We look for curiosity, rigour and discretion rather than a particular degree, and we draw applicants from across the EU and EEA. Many of our interns return to us, and a number of today's advisers began their careers on these programmes.
Benefits and how to apply
We offer considered, long-term reward: competitive remuneration, a meaningful pension contribution, private healthcare, and generous support for professional study and qualifications. We protect time away from work and take colleagues' wellbeing seriously, because sound judgement depends on it. Career progression at Riesant is based on demonstrated competence and trust, and we promote from within wherever we can.
To express interest, please write to us at contact@riesant.com with your curriculum vitae and a short note on the kind of role that interests you. We read every application carefully and reply to each one. Riesant Bank plc is an equal-opportunity employer, and we welcome candidates from every background across the markets we serve.
